Pedro Fernandez surprises me

I have been interviewing celebrities, mainly over the phone, for a quite a while now and so it's been a fun ride. About two months or so ago, I had the pleasure of talking to Mexican singer Pedro Fernández, who is definitely one of the top three young ranchera icons (Pepe Aguilar and Alejandro Fernández, are the other two). He was promoting his new album 'Dime Mi Amor' and since he is a very down to earth guy, we had a pretty nice interview.

Trouble for Selena's widow

Two nights ago I was watching ‘El Gordo y La Flaca’ TV show and found out that Selena’s widow Chris Pérez, who now is a band member of Kumbia All Starz, got a restraining order placed against him by his wife! Chris doesn’t seem like the type who would kill a fly. I do know that before becoming the guitar player for Selena y Los Dinos, he was rough guy but Selena seemed to calm him down a bit and so we all got to see a nice, quiet, timid Chris Pérez.
Maybe that’s what the problem is; we only saw a side of him that he wanted to us to see, and not his true self? Who knows!

Emilio Navaira needs to man up

OK, so Tejano music singer Emilio Navaira is now recuperating from a tragic bus accident that left him in a comma. We all felt bad for him and his family, especially when the doctors said he had a small chance of surviving.
So this morning, as I was getting ready for work, I hear on the radio that Emilio Navaira was drunk at the time of the accident!!! D R U N K !!!

Vestida y alborotada

Riverbank High wins contest

I admit it. I was very proud and happy to hear Riverbank High School had won second place in the annual Lip Sync state championship contest.
I am a bruin at heart, and though I graduated many years ago, I felt the emotion when I saw those kids jumping, screaming, and with tears in their eyes when they heard their school had won.
The lip sync contest is one of the most exciting activities of the year for some of the students, including myself. (I participated my last two years of high school as a dancer, and I had a blast!)
