Who’s excited about Census 2010?!avatar

without comments

I was so excited to receive a letter from the U.S. Census Bureau yesterday. “Yes!,” I thought to myself, “I finally get to fill out this census I’ve heard so much about.” (The letter ended up not being the actual census survey, but a reminder letter. Oh well. I have something to look forward to.)

But the fact that I am expecting my census form, and that I’m excited to fill it out, is a testament to the effort people across the Valley, state and country have invested in promoting the 2010 census.

During news conferences, TV commercials, newspaper articles, and tweets via Twitter, the 2010 census has been promoted as an essential form that every person in this country should easily and safely fill out. My friend gave me a purple Census 2010 bracelet at lunch today, so I guess I’m also promoting the census now.

Have you seen the locally produced TV commercials plugging the census?

This is one in English, featuring Assemblyman Juan Arambula.

And this is one in Spanish, featuring Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin. (She speaks pretty well for a non-native Spanish speaker, huh?!)

You can also learn about the census through Twitter. I follow CACensus2010 and Voto Latino on Twitter, both of which tweet messages about the census.
