Yesterday I had the chance to meet Valerie Salcedo, one of 13 young women who will be competing for scholarship money and the title of Miss Fresno County on Sat., Feb. 27 at the historic Tower Theater in Fresno.
This is the first pageant for the 22-year-old Salcedo, who is a music and vocal performance major at Fresno State. But she is no stranger to the stage.
She has the lead female role in Fresno State’s opera in April, will perform with the university concert choir and the Fresno Philharmonic at the Saroyan Theater in March, and sings in a Christian band. She also teaches piano to autistic children and children from lower-income families.
Watch the short video below to meet Salcedo and learn about her pageant platform.
Read more about Salcedo in next week’s edition of Vida. For more information about the Miss Fresno County pageant, visit MissFresnoCounty.org.
