VIDEO: Battle of the Fansavatar

without comments

The 28th annual Fresno County Academic Decathlon, held Saturday at Clovis East High School, was certainly a battle of the brains. Students had seven precious, adrenaline-filled seconds to answer the toughest of questions about kings, queens, and revolutions.

But the event was also a battle of the fans. During the Super Quiz, people in the audience held bright signs, school mascots danced, and groups of bare-chested boys cheered in support of their school’s squad.

University High School, the undefeated national small school champion, won the battle of the brains, ousting Edison High School, the reigning county champions for more than 10 years.

And I have to say that, in my opinion, University won the battle of the fans, too. While every squad was supported by a legion of loyal fans, I couldn’t believe how excited the University students were. (Are those bagpipes?)

Watch the videos below, and let me know if you agree!
