Cadets No More! FCC Graduates 21 To Official Police Duty

Twenty-one cadets are ready for police duty.
Perhaps the Fresno City College theater should have been packed for the occassion; the Class #118 Basic Police Academy graduation ceremony.
I don’t know, it just seems that the twenty-one cadets, who are officially ready for police duty today, even displaying holstered sidearms (no cartridges, of course), but ready to serve nonetheless, deserved a bigger send off. After all, aren’t they ready to lay their lives on the line?

Luis Peña is eager for work after graduation.

Chaplain James Taylor during the invocation.
It’s like what Sgt. William Dooley of the Fresno Police Department advised; just stay healthy because 30 years on the job can be tough.
Dr. Cynthia Azari, president of FCC, welcomed the many family members and close friends of the cadets. Azari shook hands with each of the graduates as they accepted their certificates.
Gary Franco of Fresno won three class awards. Franco earned the top academic, the best all-around and the top law enforcement skills awards from his class.
“I have about 11 from my family that came here today,” said cadet Luis Peña of McFarland, whose parents Luis Peña, Sr. and Ninfa Peña of Wasco were among the relatives.
