David Magaña will do just about anything to get a laugh out of his pre-school class at Kings Canyon Head Start in Fresno.
After Magaña’s class of about 17 received their Certificates of Recognition promoting them to the kindergarten on Tuesday (May 19), he led the entire roomful of parents and kids in ”Tooty-Ta,” a sing-a-long to celebrate the occasion.

Matthew Vallejo and Ximena Sala-Albert would argue their certificates double as worthy toys.
The videos were rolling and the flashes were flashing from the many hand-held cameras parents and other relatives used to capture the event forever.
Just for fun, many of the young grads at Kings Canyon created their own wardrobe, such as the caps which were made out of construction paper. In the procession, Magaña announced the names of his graduates and, one-at-a-time they marched, okay they ran, some skipped to get their certificates.
The kids just enjoyed themselves. Afterward they hugged their teacher for the time spent in class painting and coloring; and they didn’t forget assistant teachers Caprice Murray and Rosalyn Hubbard.
Each year, the Fresno County Head Start Program promotes roughly 3,000 youngsters to kindergarten from their 38 sites, according to Kings Canyon site director Estelle Dailey.

Daniel,
Thank you so much for covering our event. It means so much to the kids, the parents, and our staff.
On behalf of Fresno County Economic Opportunties Commission (EOC), thank you!
