MLB in the Olympics? Not likely vs. MLB union.avatar

without comments

Did you know that the players’ union in Major League Baseball is one of the strongest in the nation?

Even before former AL MVP and now outcast among MLB players, Jose Canseco, came out with his book about the steroids controversy, the union had no REAL detection device against performance-enhancing drugs. Some say the abuse was rampant and that trainers and managers knew of its popularity in the locker room.

It was like only track and field athletes and Tour de France cyclists were the real criminals and cheaters who needed drugs to win. They were the target of all the controversy. Maybe tennis players? Cricket? Yeah.

The MLB remains strong.

The International Olympic Commitee even asked the MLB if players would play in The Games? While the MLB promotes the World Baseball Classic, won twice now by Ichiro and the Japanese national team, the MLB is not too hot about moving around the schedule for the Olympics.

Maybe one day, but like I said, MLB is one strong union.
