Manny’s back. And it’s sweet for L.A.avatar

“I’m back!” said Manny Ramirez in a press conference in Arizona, where the  Los Angeles Dodgers are in Spring Training.

It was reported that after homerun slugger Manny Ramirez negotiated a $45 million, two-year deal that keeps him in Los Angeles, the man behind the plate of 527 career homers (17th on the MLB all-time list) will get into a training outfit at his leisure. Manager Joe Torre is okay with it too, as long as Manny delivers another NL West Division title, like he did in ’08.

Dodger-blue fans are eager to see if Ramirez – who led the team with 17 homeruns, a batting average of .396, 53 RBIs in 53 games – can take the team to the World Series.

The supposed backoffice deals of San Francisco mainly took place through voicemails. So the Bay Area rivals won’t get Manny in a Giants’ uniform. They weren’t anything that appealed to the Dominican. But apparently los Gigantes did not want to dish out that kind of cash.

So we’ll see ‘Manny being Manny’ again this season in Hollywood. Just don’t look for him anytime soon in preseason games.  I was serious about Manny working out at his leisure because he’s apparently saving himself for the season.
