No excuse for domestic violence!
I was appalled when I found out singer Rihanna, 20, (who I’m a fan of) had been beaten by her boyfriend singer Chris Brown.
I know they are not Latinos, but domestic violence unfortunately is universal, and I don’t believe anyone, no matter who you are, deserves to be treated this way!
I am disgusted that Brown, who is younger than 20, would do such a thing. I’ve been keeping track of this situation, and I learned that Brown’s mother was a victim of domestic violence herself and so Brown grew up seeing this. And this is not an excuse at all.
When he was interviewed by a TV host a few years ago, he said he would never treat women the way his dad treated his mom, that domestic violence was not the way. As of now, Brown needs to go and find professional help; it will help him in the long run. He is too young to follow this path.
It’s unfortunate that many celebrities, who many people see as role models, behave in this sick way. For example, Carmen Dominicci was a victim of domestic violence from both of her ex husbands actor Osvaldo Ríos and journalist Fernando del Rincón; and journalist Myrka Dellanos from her husband Ulises; and the list will go on, and on.
I hope that Rihanna will move on with her life, and we get to see her back on her feet and on stage once again.
As for all women, and men, who are victims of domestic violence: There is help out there for you so please, please reach out to you local police department. You deserve much better, you deserve a normal life.

Yes, it is very sad that Chris Brown’s actions led to this situation and Rhianna didn’t deserve this like so many other people in this country as well as the rest of the world. It is truly a universal problem that needs to be handled as it is way too common.
